Wow! Just Wow! For uniform junkies such as myself, this is a HUGE deal. This Saturday vs MTSU the Gophers will play MTSU wearing for the first time EVER, a Goldy Gopher helmet. Yes, the uni Gods have finally answered my prayers! After these many long years, a Goldy helmet! Goldy will be prominently displayed on one side, a block M on the other, with Goldy Gopher's tail coming up the back. It's doesn't get any better than this folks!
Week 2 vs Oregon State brought another uniform surprise, the Stormtrooper design. A white out uni that featured a new shiny white helmet vs the flat white they wore in the Texas bowl. This one also had a block M on both sides vs an M on one side, and a # on the other. This helmet did have the same designed stripe as the maroon helmet in the week 1 game, but in maroon instead of gold. The white jersey is very close the white jersey worn last season, but gone are the bricks from the #s. The Gophers released game 1 Uni today, and to our surprise, a brand, spanking new helmet! From matte maroon, to gold sparkle. They also added a Row The Boat and Ski U Mah on a gold center stripe. Fantastic!
We recently picked up one of our favorite Big Ten helmets of all time, an early 70's Michigan clear shell helmet. These are fairly rare as the shells cracked and had to be disposed of. This bad boy displays a good amount of use, but no cracks! While we primarily collect Minnesota Gopher gear, our Big Ten helmet collection is one of the best in the nation in our opinion. Go to the other helmets page and check them out. Some are one of kind examples, or one of the very few in existence.
We just acquired one of the most rare, and finest pieces of Gopher football memorabilia known to mankind; a 1960 Rose Bowl/National Championship ring. This ring belonged to Dan Powers, an OL out of Owatonna, MN. This is the only example we've seen on the market in our 35+ years of collecting.
A new jersey to the collection...David Cobb's rookie Titan's preseason jersey. David switched to 23 during the regular season. More pics in our pro jerseys section of the our collection link.
Another new addition and a new favorite jersey for our growing collection. This beauty is Mike Lehan's 2004 Browns alternate orange jersey. These orange alternate jerseys are tough to find, but to get a hold of one of your favorite Gophers in this pumpkin creamsicle color...unheard of! Go to our Gopher pro jerseys page for more photos.
In honor of the NFL draft, another NFL jersey has been added, although Willie was an undrafted free agent (UFD); Willie VanDeSteeg's 2009 rookie home jersey. Go to our Gopher pro jerseys page to check it out.
I added an near exact replica of the Little Brown Jug Trophy to my collection. It's about 85% of the original size/weight, but nearly perfect in every detail otherwise. It's makes a fine addition to my collection, and great conversation piece in my Gopher Den/Man Cave. I've been waiting for the perfect piece to hang above it, and was able to find the photo from the Star Tribune cover of when we beat Michigan in 2014 in the Big House. My father in-law, wife, and I were in the first row hanging over the wall to touch the jug and were caught in that photo. We were able to shake hands with Jerry Kill, touch the jug, and talk to a number of the players. It was one of the greatest sports moments in my life, captured in one moment. The photo was an early gift from my father in-law.
As promised, a few of the jerseys we've picked up over the past 6 months are now online. Tyrone Carter's Vikings home jersey, and PJ Fleck's San Francisco 49ers 2005 away jersey lead the way. To go with these two are Cory Sauter's Colts jersey, Rodney Heath Bengals jersey, and Jalen Myrick, Ben Perry, and Mike "Iron Man" Carter Gopher jerseys. Tyrone has long been one of my favorite all time Gophers, so I'm very pleased to add this one to the site. When's the last time anyone, anywhere has seen a PJ Fleck 49ers jersey. The sleeves have been modified in the QB style due to this shoulder injury. While not worn in game in 2005 due to his injury, it would have been worn on the sideline, and at events. Still an outstanding item from our new Gophers skipper! RTB and Ski-U-Mah!
