Yes! Score one for Gopherjerseys.com! One of our longer sought after jerseys has finally come home to where it rightfully belongs, Mike Lehan's 2004 Browns jersey, from his 2nd year on the squad.. We have wanted a Lehan Browns jersey for nearly a dozen years and we finally had the opportunity to pick one up. Mike was a local product from Hopkins, MN and one of our all time favorite DBs at the U. This is also the first Cleveland Browns gamers we've owned, which makes it even more special for us. I've read a few recent stories about the good will our beloved Coach Jerry Kill has extended his maroon and gold faithful. I have my only story about how this great man bestowed a gift unto my wife and I. I'll start by saying that any great organization is lead from the top down by a leader whose values extend to those beneath him or her. In this case, Coach Kill, his coordinators, assistant coaches, football supports staff, etc.. The following few adjectives are but a few that describe coach and his staff well: blue collar, hard working, honest, intelligent, loyal, and intense. I've witnessed these traits firsthand on numerous occasions on game days, practices, meetings, football functions, and date night with Jerry and Rebecca. One to my story..
In planning my wedding, I wanted to do something different that represented our Minnesota side, especially since we were getting married in Michigan. I decided to design our save the date cards as Go-pher the date. My new Michigan in-laws needed to get a good taste of what was to come their way (we were moving to Michigan too). I noticed a photo op with Goldy in one of the Gary Tinsley auctions and called up my buddy Dan O'Brien in the football office, then the director of operations for the football team, to see if we could get a few pictures taken with Goldy at the practice facility or if the stars aligned, at TCF Bank stadium. Within a day, he responded that we could make some dates work at TCF. I bid on, and won the Goldy auction and within a week had a date set at TCF Bank Stadium for our Goldy photoshoot. We had the entire stadium to ourselves during the shoot, and had just enough time to get over to the practice facility. Kyle Gergely in the equipment room borrowed us a football to toss around with Goldy on the outdoor practice field, and we stopped up to the football office and Goldy arranged a photo with Jerry and Rebecca who were leaving for the day with their daughters. The staff then took offered to out the Bell for us to take our picture with. Our one hour shoot last lasted nearly two hours without one complaint from Goldy, who kept extending our time with him, the entire football staff went out of their way time and time again to make our experience an amazing one. The entire culture of this football team is incredible, from Coach, down to the players. If you've ever had a chance to talk to the staff or team you'll notice how polite and helpful these people are and I can't say enough how proud I am to be a U of M alum, and supporter of our football team. I'm pumped for next season with Coach Kill at the helm, and the future of this team with his leadership going into the future. Go Gophers! NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING on our lovely website is for sale, so back off! We get asked time and time again if items from our collection for sale, and no, it's still not for sale. We won't take the time to reply if you ask unless you're going to legitimately offer lotto types of money and you plan on making it rain. Sorry, but we love our inanimate objects and once again, they're NOT for sale. Is your kidney for sale? How about your left arm? Your kids for sale? No, neither are our jerseys/helmets. Thank you.
PS. Conversely, we have added a wanted page if YOU want to sell YOUR game used Gopher memorabilia to us :) Upon Gopherjerseys.com God hath placed the wrath of ten plagues. It's hard to know where to even begin, so the beginning seems to make the most sense. A few memorabilia purchases had been in the works for about 3 to 4 months. Some not so small financial problems necessitated that the deals not go through. When one has an addiction to sports memorabilia like I do(like any serious addiction), I turned back to my addiction for comfort and shunned the obvious near future cash flow problems. Quitting your job, getting married, going on a honeymoon, moving across country and buying a new house, and then taking a job as a substitute teacher should be an indication of the financial woes to come.
A lesser (or smarter) man might have saved every last shekel should a mishap or financial need occur, but not I. So I shouted unto the memorabilia gods "I shall not let the jerseys go!", And so began the plagues to our modest website: computer fan breakdown, overheat, and loss of memory, car transmission breakdown (for the third time in 2 years), which prompted a new car purchase, numerous internet viruses, which shut down our site, and computer a half-dozen times over the last 3 months, issues with our website provider, which nearly cost us our website, and speaking of viruses, I've caught 3 from my students over the past few months which put me out of commission. Despite the challenges, my love of Gopher football and it's memorabilia endured over all, and numerous purchases have been made. I hear perseverance builds character... Here are a few of the new additions and my new pride and joy; early 90s Scott Schaffner jersey, 2013 James Manuel away jersey, Texas Bowl jersey and alternate white helmet, 2014 gold alternate helmet, and 2010 Badgers Gabe Carimi helmet.
