Big Ten page is up!

We finally finished our Big Ten and other helmets page(s). After long hours of photographing, cropping, and uploading hundreds of pics of helmets, the page is done (for the most part). We still have a few dozen more helmets to put up, but this will have to do for now. Go to the our collection page, then click on the other helmet section. Many of these helmets have been in our collection for years, and some never seen before in the hobby. Watch for updates on our blog as we add more helmets and Gopher items. Enjoy!

Former Gopher great RB Tony Carter's Packers jersey made it's way into our collection last week. This is a special jersey as it was worn during Tony's last season in the NFL. Check it out in the pro jersey section of the our collection page.

A visit to the Illinois Illini equipment room...

On the way to Michigan (by way of Columbus and Cincinnati), we stopped by Memorial Stadium in Champaign for a few pictures. We were invited on an ad hoc tour of the football offices byb a football staff member, and an inspection of the equipment room by the very kind and gracious Trent Chesnut, head football equipment guru. Of course, I had to snap a few shots. As a huge B1G and game used equipment nut, it was an out of body experience for me, and even fun for my fiancée. Every equipment guy I've ever known has collected other team's helmets, and the guys at Illinois have nice a nice job over the past number of seasons picking up a gamer here and there. Thanks for the awesome experience Illini staff!

New Indiana Helmets/Uniforms

Ugggg....I like the old school 80's I look, but the chrome and crimson has got to go, and the numbered helmets look like a cheap knock off of Ohio State's pro combat's a few years ago. Thoughts....?

New Illinois Helmet

Here's a pic of the new Illinois helmet for the 2013 season. We don't know if they'll be alternates or what other changes to their uniforms may be made. They decided to get rid of the script Illinois on the sides of the their helmets and go with a classic I look. They Illini haven't been able to use their logo Chief Illiniwek on any of their uniforms as it was banned by the NCAA so you won't see that on an Illini helmet anytime soon. It was last used on award decals on the 1980's helmets. I happen to love that logo myself, as do many in Illini nation so that's too bad. Watch for more updates.

We've been working hard on updating the history section and adding some of our other non-Gopher helmets to our collection page. We started collecting Big Ten helmets in the mid to late 1980's and have amassed a small, but nice collection of gamers over the years. We plan on a Big Ten page and perhaps an other helmets page with the various other teams we've picked up. We're also expanding our Gopher helmet page as that page currently shows just a fraction of our Gopher helmets. The people who check out our site come mostly from Big Ten county so we thought we'd add some of their updates to the blog as well starting with two posts about new B1G helmets on the way for the 2013 season. Keep coming back for updates as we hope to get this all up before the start of the school year (two of us teach).
