My Fiancee and I stopped up to the football office after our photo shoot with Goldy and the staff were kind enough to take the "Bell" out of the display case for us. Yes, up close and personal with our newest (and newly) repaired trophy. Up next, the Axe!

Illinois Illini Salute to Service helmet worn vs Ohio State on 11/16/13. The ten stars within the State of Illinois decal are for the 10 former Illini football members who have died in combat. We really like this helmet, but all agree the state decal should be bigger. Very cool helmet indeed, and much less garish way to salute the fallen, instead of wearing an entire flag for your uniform as cross-state rivals NU did this week.  Last week the Purdue Boilermakers went with a special back matte helmet, which was a surprise to many as it was kept under wraps. They even practiced pre-game in their gold helmets so rumors of a black helmet were dismissed until they came out of the tunnel wearing black. It didn't do much good as they were throttled by Ohio State. This coming Saturday, Purdue will follow the Gophers example and wear a USA flag decal on their helmets. Northwestern will also honor the military this coming weekend by wearing essentially turning a flag into their unis, head to toe. I'm not a big fan of the Gophers or Purdue's uni decal, but I kind of like Northwestern's helmets. We'll see if we're shocked by any other secret US flag regalia this Sat. vs Penn State...     The Gophers will wear this block M variation this coming Saturday vs Penn State. Thoughts...
